People have been living in the Maldives for over three thousand years. Maldives have been frequented by traders and sailors crossing between Arabia and the Far East. The early settlers has brought with them their diverse backgrounds and rich heritage which have evolved to give the Maldives it own distinctive and refined culture. Many of the traditions and cultural performances are strongly related to the seas reflects our dependence on the seas around us.
